Radiesse biostimulator
Radiesse is a dermal regenerative biostimulator, comprised of calcium hydroxylapetite (CaHa) microspheres suspended in gel. This is an ideal product for clients who desire natural and gradual results, and longevity from their treatment. Biostimulators work alongside your facial tissue to correct volume loss, and provide support and structure due to aging or weight loss. Unlike dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Revance, etc), biostimulators not only correct volume loss, they also stimulate collagen 3 (the initial 8-12 weeks), collagen 1 (12 weeks+ to build support, structure and elastin), and angiogenesis (inducing vascularity and vitality), to provide structural support and natural results. Ideal treatment areas for Radiesse include: nasolabial folds/smile lines, mid face/cheeks, perioral regions/around the mouth, marionette lines, jawline. Unlike dermal fillers comprised of hyaluronic acid which can last 6-12 months dependent on the product, Radiesse has been shown to provide structural support for 12-18 months, this treatment can be performed every 12-24 months, dependent on your clinical response and goals. Depending on the amount of correction required, some clients will require additional treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to fully address their concerns, this will be discussed during your full face consultation.
Post care
Social downtime: some discomfort, swelling, and/or bruising is to be expected the first 2-3 days, the greatest swelling the first 24 hours, then slowly tapering off. If bruising develops, it may take up to 1 week to resolve. Plan your appointment accordingly.
Try sleeping with your head of bed elevated on a few pillows when sleeping at night to help decrease swelling. Swelling is always more prominent in the mornings upon waking up
You may try Tylenol/acetaminophen for any discomfort
Avoid Motrin, ibuprofen, aspirin, or aleve which can make you bruise more
For swelling, try gently icing the treated area (hover an ice pack a few centimeters above the skin) every few hours for 5 minutes at a time
24 hours:
NO makeup
NO alcohol (to avoid the appearance of bruising)
NO excessive exercise/perspiration/sauna/hot tub
Results: if the goal of your treatment is to instantly improve volume- you will see volume immediately after your treatment, if the goal of your treatment is to build gradual support, structure, and vitality- at 8 weeks you will begin to see filing in of lines and wrinkles, after 12 weeks and onwards, you will see natural and gradual improvement in support, structure, volume, and vitality. If your treatment is for full correction, these results will last 18+ months.
